Marching Band Camp Band Camp will be held during the weeks of July 22nd and July 28th. At our Directors' request, please review the items below to be sure you’re ready for July 22 (new members/guard/percussion/leadership) or July 23 (returning members): 0. Schedule. Remember that all of our two-week band camp is required. The schedule is available on the band website. Be sure to not have any appointments during this window — we use every minute of these rehearsals. Parents: don’t forget about our meeting and show preview on August 2 at 6:45. 1. Payments. Be sure you are logging into your Charms account and submitting your monthly payments. We bring 16 staff members for camp, and student dues are essential to cover this and other band camp costs. 2. 1/2 gallon water bottle (or bigger!) and rehearsal attire. Be sure you’ve got your 1/2 gallon (or bigger!) water bottle for the season, as well as your white rehearsal t-shirts. These are required for band camp and all rehearsals. (Color guard students will follow Jasmyn’s attire policy.) A hat is recommended too. 3. Go Outside! If you’ve spent the summer inside, don’t let July 22 or 23 be the first day you’ll be outside. Six hours outside when you’ve been inside all summer is really tough on your body. Get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. 4. Pick up your instrument. Just like spending time outside, don’t let July 22 or 23 be the first time you’ve picked up your instrument in three months — your lips or hands will want to fall off! Spend time playing through fundamentals or old music. Be sure you have reeds, valves are not stuck, and your instrument works as intended! Part 1 of our show music will be on the way soon. 5. What to Bring to Camp: (1) 1/2+ gallon water bottle (2) a nutritious and full lunch daily (3) sunscreen/bug spray (4) pencils! (5) reeds/accessories (6) breathing balloons for winds. 6. What to Wear to Camp: (1) shorts (2) white t-shirt (3) athletic shoes (4) hat/visor (5) sunscreen.
