I DON’T HAVE ROOM TO TAKE BAND IN MY HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE... FALSE!
- Every Freshman at Centennial High School has room to take band during his/her Freshman year.
- First year students have two elective slots: most students take band and a foreign language.
- Students who intend on being in marching band for two years can “waiver out” of Personal Fitness. This frees up an additional elective slot!
- If you are interested in taking another elective/pathway, you have plenty of time during your time at Centennial.
- Students in the eighth grade are automatically enrolled in band class at Centennial High School. You don’t need to do anything extra!
- Being in band from middle school throughout high school shows commitment to a long term goal, which looks fantastic for college applications.
- In the 2017-2018 school year, four out of the five National Merit Semi-Finalists were in band. The best and brightest of Centennial are able to excel in all necessary courses, and take electives.
- Questions? Email Mr. Ehrlich and Mr. Reid. Do not hesitate to contact them. They will work with the high school counselors to make band work for you!
WHAT IS CHARMS?
Charms Office Assistant is used by the Centennial HS Band to help keep parents and students updated with band events. Each individual student has an account that has a lot of information within it. Financial status, band assignments, downloadable handouts and files, uniform assignment, etc. This tool is and has proven to be the most invaluable item we use. It helps when creating lists, mass emails, music library, instrument and uniform inventory, student attendance at rehearsals and performances, and so much more.
We ask that each of you visit your Charms account on a regular basis to check things out and stay updated. We also ask that you check your information to be sure it is updated especially if you have recently changed email addresses or phone numbers. We rely on mass emails to get out information to all parents and students throughout the year so please make sure your email address is updated.
