2017 MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE On Thanksgiving morning tune into NBC at 9 a.m. for the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Centennial trumpet player Eli Rickles will be marching in the Macy’s Great American Marching Band, which is comprised of high school band students from all 50 states. Eli was chosen to participate through a competitive audition process. He is proud to represent Centennial High School! FUN WAS HAD BY ALL AT DAVE AND BUSTER’S! On Friday afternoon, marching band students celebrated a fantastic marching season by gathering at Dave and Buster’s for a few hours of games and fun together. We send a huge shout out to Stephanie Duffy for organizing this party for the students and thank you to the other parents who chaperoned. CONCERT BAND CONCERT PROGRAMS As we did for the Cluster Concert, on the day of all band concerts we will post a button on this home page that links to the concert program. We have also created a new page under the About Us tab above, titled Past Concert Programs. After each concert has passed, you can see those concert programs to view music pieces played, other included information and to print a hard copy if desired. CONCERT BAND ATTIRE If you need tuxedo alterations and purchased your tux prior to last school year (2016/17), Savvy Formalwear at North Point Mall will do this free of charge. If you purchased your tux last school year through Tuxedo Warehouse and need alterations or would like to use their trade-in program, please click here. Questions: Contact Christy Lawrence CONCERT BAND FEES: FULL PAYMENT IS DUE NOW! All current Marching Band families have accounts and can login to the same account to pay their Concert Band Fees. $100 Concert Band fees are due now and can be paid by clicking on My Account/Forms on the toolbar above. Then scroll down to New Forms to see the concert fees. Some students submitted their Concert Band forms, so if you do not see this form under New Forms, then click on My Account/Previous Purchases. Click on the order number that has a balance due. If you previously made a partial payment of $50, the remaining $50 is due now! If you have not yet made any payments, please pay the full $100 at this time. These fees are used to fund special instructors and clinicians who are brought in to work with each Band and instrument section in preparation for LGPE. Fees will also be used to purchase music, instruments, instrument accessories and electronic equipment that are needed to make the different ensembles within the Band program function. Concert Band fees are not included in Marching Band Fees! Please pay these fees to support our fantastic Band program! WINTER CONCERT: DECEMBER 7TH Please join us for a spectacular Winter Concert on Thursday, December 7th, in the auditorium at 7:00 p.m. You will be wowed with performances from the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band. Students should report to the band room at 6:30 p.m. dressed in their concert attire. ATLANTA WIND SYMPHONY CONCERT On December 9th at 7:30 p.m., the Atlanta Wind Symphony will hold their holiday concert in the Centennial auditorium. Centennial's very own Associate Band Director Tyler Ehrlich will be conducting, as well as Dr. David Kehler who is Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Kennesaw State University. One piece that will be performed is The Eighth Candle which Mr. Ehrlich will also conduct with the Centennial Wind Ensemble at its winter concert. Centennial band students that attend this concert will be able to replace their lowest participation/preparation grade with a 100! FULTON COUNTY HONOR BAND INFORMATION The deadline to sign up to audition for this year’s Fulton County Honor Band has passed. For those students who are auditioning, please realize that the auditions will be on November 7th at Riverwood HS (5900 Raider Drive, NW, Sandy Springs, 30328). Students should head immediately to Riverwood once school ends that day for a quick audition and then head back to Centennial for the Cluster Concert. The audition will consist of scales and sight reading. If you have questions regarding the audition, contact Mr. Reid or Mr. Ehrlich. The actual honor band event will take place at Centennial with rehearsals on Monday, November 13th, from 6 – 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, November 14th, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. We encourage all band supporters to attend the concert that Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. MARCHING BAND BASKETBALL PEP BAND Thanks to the marching band students who played at the basketball game on Monday, November 13th, for boosting the fans’ spirit! DECEMBER 2ND: JOHNS CREEK FOUNDERS DAY PARADE The Marching Band will participate in the City of Johns Creek Founders Day Parade on Saturday, December 2nd. Students will report to the Band room at 8:30 a.m. From there, the Band will travel by bus to the parade route starting point. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. The parade route travels west on State Bridge Road at West Morton Road and ends at Kimball Bridge Road at Ocee Elementary School. Students will return by bus to CHS at approximately 12:45 p.m. We will send out a Remind that day with a more accurate return time. MARCHING BAND SECTION AND SENIOR PICTURES AVAILABLE Section and senior pictures taken during band camp have been featured in the Football Program. If you want to place a photograph order, please contact their Customer Service at 800-348-4360. FOOTBALL SEASON CONTINUES… KNIGHTS PROCEED TO THE PLAYOFFS! After the victorious game over Pope HS, the Centennial Knights football team has ended the regular season with a 7 – 3 winning record. Now the team and Band will move on to the first playoff game on November 10th at home in the Fortress! Go Knights! Volunteers needed for this game! We will send reminders and more details about the playoff game on Thursday, November 8th, via email, and it will be posted on this website. Wear your band spirit gear (available under Spirit Gear tab above) and show our proud spirit! “THE CONQUEST” MARCHING BAND COMPETITION The Mighty Marching Knights competed at Allatoona HS’s “The Conquest” Marching Band Competition. We are extremely proud of our Band for placing FIRST in the AAA division with a Superior overall rating and Best in Music! What a perfect way to cap off a great marching season! Many thanks to the parents who volunteered by giving their all late into the night! NOVEMBER 11TH: ATLANTA VETERANS DAY PARADE Due to the Fulton County Schools budget crisis, all field trips are cancelled through the end of the year. As a result, the marching band will not be able to participate in this parade. WINTERGUARD The Centennial Band is committed to continuing our Winterguard program. The search is underway for an interim Winterguard Director, and we hope to be able to secure an instructor and move forward with the rest of the scheduled season. A formal plan should be in place at the end of Thanksgiving break, and at that time, we will provide audition information and other details. HELP WANTED FOR 2017-2018 BOARD & COMMITTEES! The Band Board is looking for volunteers who would like to get involved in a different way. Some positions can be done from home with a computer, while others require feet on the ground. We will have the following committee positions available:
The Board would also gladly welcome any parents interested in sharing/shadowing the following Board positions with current officers. All but one of these volunteers have a rising senior so next year will be their last:
