Concert Band A WONDERFUL WINTER CONCERT!!! We hope that everyone enjoyed the wonderful Winter Concert performed by our very talented concert band students! Many thanks to Mr. Reid and Mr. Ehrlich for teaching our students throughout this first semester and preparing them for this outstanding performance. Videos coming soon under the About Us tab. Thanks, as always, to Jennifer Willis for taking these great pictures. CONCERT PROGRAMS Remember that we have created a page under the About Us tab above, titled Past Concert Programs. After each concert has passed, you can see those concert programs to view music pieces played, other included information and to print a hard copy if desired. CONCERT BAND ATTIRE If you need tuxedo alterations and purchased your tux prior to last school year (2016/17), Savvy Formalwear at North Point Mall will do this free of charge. If you purchased your tux last school year through Tuxedo Warehouse and need alterations or would like to use their trade-in program, please click here. Questions: Contact Christy Lawrence CONCERT BAND FEES: FULL PAYMENT IS DUE NOW! All current Marching Band families have accounts and can login to the same account to pay their Concert Band Fees. $100 Concert Band fees are due now and can be paid by clicking on My Account/Forms on the toolbar above. Then scroll down to New Forms to see the concert fees. Some students submitted their Concert Band forms, so if you do not see this form under New Forms, then click on My Account/Previous Purchases. Click on the order number that has a balance due. If you previously made a partial payment of $50, the remaining $50 is due now! If you have not yet made any payments, please pay the full $100 at this time. These fees are used to fund special instructors and clinicians who are brought in to work with each Band and instrument section in preparation for LGPE. Fees will also be used to purchase music, instruments, instrument accessories and electronic equipment that are needed to make the different ensembles within the Band program function. Concert Band fees are not included in Marching Band Fees! Please pay these fees to support our fantastic Band program! MILTON HIGH SCHOOL WIND ENSEMBLE AND COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY WIND ENSEMBLE CONCERT On Friday, January 19th, we have an amazing concert coming to the Centennial High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. The concert will begin with the Milton HS Wind Ensemble. This talented high school group is performing at The University of Georgia’s JanFest the next day and will be performing their program for community members at Centennial. Following their performance, the Wind Ensemble from Columbus State University will perform. Columbus State has a great group that we’re sure will amaze everyone. Any Centennial HS Band student attending the concert will earn extra credit in band class that can be used to bring up any low grades. We hope everyone can be there! WINTER CONCERT: DECEMBER 7TH Please join us for a spectacular Winter Concert on Thursday, December 7th, in the auditorium at 7:00 p.m. You will be wowed with performances from the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band. Students should report to the band room at 6:30 p.m. dressed in their concert attire. ATLANTA WIND SYMPHONY CONCERT On December 9th at 7:30 p.m., the Atlanta Wind Symphony will hold their holiday concert in the Centennial auditorium. Centennial's very own Associate Band Director Tyler Ehrlich will be conducting, as well as Dr. David Kehler who is Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Kennesaw State University. One piece that will be performed is The Eighth Candle which Mr. Ehrlich will also conduct with the Centennial Wind Ensemble at its winter concert. Centennial band students that attend this concert will be able to replace their lowest participation/preparation grade with a 100! Marching Band JOHNS CREEK FOUNDERS DAY PARADE The Mighty Marching Knights proudly represented Centennial High School in the Johns Creek Founders Day Parade. BAND CLASS, MARCHING BAND SECTION & SENIOR PICTURES AVAILABLE Band pictures that were taken in class in November, along with marching band section and senior pictures taken during band camp, are available from Legacy Studios. Follow these steps to view and purchase pictures: Go to: LegacyStudios.com Click on "Buy Pictures" Choose "2016 - 2018 Pictures" Enter online code: 6090B181 Choose "November 2017" gallery for pictures taken in band class or choose "August 2017" for marching band section and senior pictures Click on thumbnail image Look for the green "Buy Now" tag Please note: In email exchanges with Legacy, they clarified that digital images are not sent on a CD; a downloadable file is offered. Winterguard We are excited to announce that Rachel Cooper, who worked with our winterguard for each of the past two years, has graciously agreed to be our winterguard director this year. Tryouts for the winterguard will be December 11th,12th & 13th from 4:30 -7 p.m. in the band room. If any students who wish to participate in winterguard have conflicts with the audition dates or have any questions about winterguard, please see Mr. Reid. Information regarding the schedule for the remainder of the season will be available during tryouts. Jazz Band The first rehearsal for jazz band will be on Tuesday, December 12th, from 3:45 - 5:15 p.m. Then rehearsals will resume on January 9th and every Tuesday through May 8th from 3:45 - 5:15 p.m. Mr. Reid will be the director with guest jazz artists. The participation fee is $80. Please pay by cash or check payable to "CHS Band Boosters" and place in an envelope labeled with student's name and jazz band. Then place the envelope in the drop box outside Mr. Reid's office. This fee will pay for guest artists, music and the jazz festival. HELP WANTED FOR 2017-2018 BOARD & COMMITTEES!
The Band Board is looking for volunteers who would like to get involved in a different way. Some positions can be done from home with a computer, while others require feet on the ground. We will have the following committee positions available:
The Board would also gladly welcome any parents interested in sharing/shadowing the following Board positions with current officers. All but one of these volunteers have a rising senior so next year will be their last:
