Congratulations to Chloe and Philippe and their families on this outstanding accomplishment! CHS NATIONAL MERIT FINALISTS Congratulations to this year's CHS National Merit Finalists: Andrew Duffy, Chloe LeCates, Kayley Olewicz, Anise Overton and Emma Sweigert! We are so proud to announce that four out of the five (Andrew, Chloe, Kayley and Anise) are marching band students! Concert Band LGPE INFORMATION Mr. Reid, Mr. Ehrlich and the band students are busily preparing for this year’s LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) which is the equivalent of standardized testing for performance music. LGPE is at Johns Creek H.S. (5575 State Bridge Road, Alpharetta 30022). The Pre-LGPE concert was a special treat for all as Mr. Reid and Mr. Ehrlich conducted all three bands that will participate in the assessment on March 8th. Permission Slips and Concert Attire: Permission slips were due on February 13th! Band students should bring their concert attire with them to school on the day of LGPE. Parent Chaperones Needed: All parents are welcome to watch the performances, and 4 parent chaperones are needed for each band. To volunteer, please go to the band's Charms Volunteer Sign Up. Symphonic Band chaperones should arrive at Centennial by 7:50 a.m. Chamber Winds chaperones should arrive to Centennial by 12:30 p.m. Wind Ensemble chaperones should arrive to Centennial by 3:30 p.m. Thank you! BAND PLACEMENT AUDITIONS Band placement auditions will be Thursday, March 29th, 4:15 - 8:15 p.m. Students will sign up for a time slot and do not need to stay at school for the full duration. Students will be notified when they can sign up during the school day. This is required for all students: Freshmen through Juniors. Seniors will have an alternative assignment. If students have a legitimate conflict, they should talk to Mr. Reid or Mr. Ehrlich. CONCERT PROGRAMS Remember that we have created a page under the About Us tab above, titled Concert Programs. Concert programs from every concert of this school year are posted so that you can view music pieces played, other included information and print a hard copy if desired. Fundraising CHOCOLATE SALE FUNDRAISER Pay off those fee balances and get a head start on next year’s band fees! All band class, marching band and color/winter guard members are eligible to sell chocolate bars and earn $30 account credit for every box sold. How the sale will be run:
Winter Guard Schedule of rehearsals and competitions is posted on the calendar tab above. WINTER GUARD COMPETITIONS The Winter Guard performed their show "The Queen" excellently this past Saturday in Villa Rica and will now move on to their 3rd competition next Saturday, March 3rd, at Mill Creek H.S. (4400 Braselton Hwy., Hoschton 30548). We highly encourage the Centennial band family to support our talented Winter Guard by cheering them on that day. This competition starts at 11 a.m. The entry cost is $9. Our guard is competing against eight other guards in the Scholastic Regional A Division. This division starts competition at 1:12 p.m., and currently Centennial performs at 1:33 p.m. So come on out with some good ol' Centennial spirit and pride! Go Knights! Jazz Band Jazz Band rehearsals are on most Tuesdays through May 8th from 3:45 - 5:15 p.m. (See calendar tab above for specific dates.) Mr. Reid is the director with guest jazz artists. Performances:
The participation fee is $80. Please pay by cash or check payable to "CHS Band Boosters" and place in an envelope labeled with student's name and jazz band. Then place the envelope in the drop box outside Mr. Reid's office. This fee will pay for guest artists, music and the jazz festival. Drumming/Chops Sessions These sessions are held most Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. through the end of March in the Centennial band room and are for any and all interested in percussion for next marching band season. No percussion experience necessary. See calendar tab above for exact dates. Haynes and Holcomb Eighth Graders are very, very welcome!
