LGPE DATES AND TIMES
Mr. Reid and the band students are busily preparing for this year’s LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) which is the equivalent of standardized testing for performance music. Mark your calendar for the Pre-LGPE concert on Thursday, February 9th, at 7 p.m. in the Centennial auditorium! All 4 bands will perform their LGPE pieces while other band professionals will evaluate the performances to provide Mr. Reid and the students with feedback. They will then use this feedback to continue to prepare for the actual LGPE at Cambridge H. S. (2845 Bethany Bend, Milton, 30004). Monday, February 27, 2017 8:20am – 6th period (Concert Band) depart for Cambridge 10:00am – PERFORM 11:00am – Listen to bands 12:00pm – Lunch at Cambridge (bring $ for concession stand or wait to eat when return to Centennial) 12:30pm – Depart for Centennial 1:00pm – Arrive at Centennial Tuesday, February 28, 2017 8:20am – 1st period (Chamber Winds) depart for Cambridge 10:00am – PERFORM 11:00am – Listen to bands 12:00pm – Lunch at Cambridge (bring $ for concession stand or wait to eat when return to Centennial) 12:30pm – Depart for Centennial 1:00pm – Arrive at Centennial 3:15pm – 4th period (Wind Ensemble) depart for Cambridge 4:00pm – Arrive at Cambridge 5:15pm – PERFORM 6:30pm – Dinner at Cambridge (bring $ for concession stand or wait to eat when return home) 6:45pm – Listen to bands 9:00pm – Depart for Centennial 9:30pm – Arrive at Centennial Wednesday, March 1, 2017 8:20am – 3rd period (Symphonic Band) depart for Cambridge 9:00am – Listen to bands 11:00am – PERFORM 12:00pm – Lunch at Cambridge (bring $ for concession stand or wait to eat when return to Centennial) 12:30pm – Depart for Centennial 1:00pm – Arrive at Centennial Permission slips will be sent home soon. Band students should bring their concert attire with them to school on the day of their LGPE. Students and parent volunteers will ride buses to and from Cambridge. All parents are welcome to watch the performances and chaperones are needed. Click here or go to the Volunteer Tab above! 2017 ALL STATE BAND We are extremely proud to announce that the following Centennial Band students have been chosen for the 2017 All State Band: Matthew Gilmore, Rhett Mobley and Jonah Bergman! Matthew will be First Chair Oboe! All State Band will take place March 2nd through 4th in Athens at the University of Georgia. Congratulations to these talented musicians! VILLAGE BURGER CHS BAND SPIRIT NIGHT! 3005 Old Alabama Road (near Fresh Market) Tuesday, January 24th from 5:00 – 9:00 PM Have fun dining with friends and neighbors and support the Band at the same time! A percentage of the total receipts will go to the CHS Band Program. GMEA DISTRICT HONOR BAND Congratulations to the following Centennial Band students who have been chosen to participate in the GMEA District Honor Band on February 3rd & 4th at North Atlanta H.S. We are extremely proud of you!
Concert Band Class Fees $100 payment of Concert Band Class fees is past due. This fee may be paid with a credit card under My Account in the New Forms Section or by cash/check turned into the Dropbox by Mr. Reid's office. CENTENNIAL CONCERT CLOTHES CLOSET You can help CHS Band students benefit from the music program at Centennial. Do you have a tuxedo or a dress that you no longer need? Please donate your dry-cleaned concert attire to the CCCC, and it will be made available for students to borrow who cannot afford this extra cost. Please email Kara Gibson, Centennial HS Band Senior, at [email protected] to donate your concert tux, tux accessories, or concert dress, or if you have any questions. Local pick-up can be arranged. The Centennial Concert Clothes Closet is being organized as Kara's Girl Scout Gold Award Project, in conjunction with Mr. Reid and the Centennial Band Department. Thank you for your support! BASKETBALL PEP BAND We encourage Marching Band members to show their school spirit by playing at CHS basketball games! This year the basketball program has set-up Spirit Nights for most of the FRIDAY night home basketball games. They would really like the Band to come out to these games and make some NOISE!!!! A WONDERFUL WINTER CONCERT!!! We hope that everyone enjoyed the wonderful Winter Concert performed by our very talented concert band students!
