For tuxedos, any individual parts are fine too – shirts, bowties, jackets, etc. If you have any to donate, please bring them in to Mr. Ehrlich, and we will have them for use by future students. Thanks! Foundation for Fine Arts Parents of Band Seniors, There is still time to support the Foundation for Fine Arts! Join at the MAJESTIC level and your membership will include a gold brick to be inscribed with your student's name to hang in the auditorium lobby at Centennial HS. Become a Member – Centennial High School Foundation for the Fine Arts Tara Winds Scholarship Tara Winds is an all adult community band based in the metro Atlanta Area. The Tara Winds Scholarship Fund awards scholarships for students to use towards a summer music opportunity, and scholarships to two graduating seniors who plan on majoring in music. An informational flyer is attached to this newsletter, and complete information, the application form and the reference form are available at: www.tarawinds.org/scholarship.html. Please note that applications and supporting documentation are due by April 1st. Chop Sessions: Chop sessions are open to any student who is interested in learning about the fundamentals of percussion. No percussion experience is required, and sessions are open to all eighth graders – join in as soon as you can arrive! Chop Sessions are held most Tuesdays from 4-6pm – check the band schedule for exact dates. MARCHING BAND: Registration is NOW OPEN!! This is due by the end of Spring Training — April 25, 2019. Please note the following rehearsals which were not noted in the registration packet: Percussion and Color Guard rehearsals will continue on Mondays for the duration of the Fall marching band season, through Oct 28th. Turn in the Intent Form to the announcements board across from Mr. Reid's office. Complete the Registration Google Form. Pay the $200 deposit, preferably on Charms with a credit card.** **We’ve made a change to our marching band registration process. After you complete the Registration Google Form, we will manually add the deposit and all payments to your Charms account within one business day. You may then make your payments on Charms. Leadership: All students interested in a leadership position for the Fall 2019 season are required to attend all sessions of the Leadership Clinic. Our Winterguard placed second in the Scholastic Regional A Division in last Saturday's competition at Mill Creek High School. They scored an 80.90 in a division of eight guards. SAPA Championships at UT-Chattanooga Our Winterguard will compete this Sunday, March 31st in the Scholastic Regional A - Onyx Division at the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga McKenzie Arena (720 E 4th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403). Enjoy coffee & desserts, a 50-50 drawing, and a silent auction while listening to some incredible music. You won't want to miss it! The evening will feature performances by many students and teachers (including our middle school directors!) There will be a $5 admission fee and coffee and desserts will be available for purchase. We will also have a 50-50 drawing and a silent auction. All proceeds will go directly to the CHS band program. We need items for our silent auction! Volunteers Needed! Come support Winterguard by transporting equipment, driving/chaperoning the kids to our competitions, and enjoying a great show! For each competition the team attends, we need 7 volunteers: one to transport the floor/equipment, and 6 drivers/chaperones. Our competition dates are: Saturday, March 23rd – Four more volunteers needed, including a parent who can transport the floor and equipment!
