CURRENT NEWS MARCHING BAND Director’s Note – 10/28 A big congratulations to our Marching Band on their performance at the Northwest Georgia Band Championships this past Saturday at Cass HS. Out of eleven A-AAA groups, Centennial’s Band came in first place, with an overall score of 89.83. A big shout out to Drum Majors Ethan Maholland and Sarah Willis for winning the Drum Major caption in the AAA division, as well as a second place finish for our Percussion section and third place for our Color Guard. PAST NEWS MARCHING BAND Director’s Note – 10/21 The directors are extremely proud of all our students in the marching band for their wonderful performance on Saturday. Finishing 2nd in our class ahead of a very good Cambridge HS band says a lot about all of the hard work the students have put into our show. We have one more week in our competitive season and we want to keep pushing so that we have the best results possible next Saturday at Cass. It is with great pride that we share that Centennial Band alumni and current color guard instructor, Anna Steltenpohl, was recently awarded an $8,000 scholarship from Georgia’s Own Credit Union. She received the scholarship for a video she made documenting her love and passion for color guard. We are very proud Anna and I hope you will take a moment to watch her video. There is no greater feeling for a teacher than to know you played a small part in helping a student find their passion in life. Students did a great job performing Parts 2 and 3, and Alpharetta’s high press box allowed us to address some spots to clean for Saturday. We had a confident run as well, achieving a superior rating in band, Drum Majors, and percussion, with an excellent in Color Guard. Centennial was within one point of scoring highest music in our division. We will be integrating feedback received via audio tape into our teaching practices over the next three weeks, as we prepare for Sprayberry and Cass HS competitions at the end of October. PAST NEWS CONCERT BAND All Concert Band Students to Participate in Stands Performance at this Friday's Home Game - 10/26! Please arrive in the band room no later than 6:30pm. You will play in the stands with the band in the first half, watch our halftime performance, come to the concession stand with us in the 3rd quarter and then play with us again in the 4th quarter. Pickup from the band room for parents should be between 10-10:30. Cluster Concert On Monday night, we combined the bands from Centennial, Holcomb Bridge Middle School, and Haynes Bridge Middle School for a great concert performance! Thank you to Dr. Christina Chang (Haynes Bridge Middle School), Erick Stallings (Holcomb Bridge Middle School), and our Directors, Michael Reid and Tyler Ehrlich, for making this evening possible. It serves as an example of the great collaboration among our schools that strengthens the future of our band program for Centennial’s current and future musicians! 2018 Cluster Concert on Monday!! Please join us for the 2018 Cluster Concert, featuring concert band students from Holcomb Bridge Middle School, Haynes Bridge Middle School, and Centennial! The concert will be held on October 15th, at 7pm in the Centennial gym (6:30pm call time for students). The Holcomb Bridge MS Band is directed by Erick Stallings, and the Haynes Bridge MS band is directed by Dr. Christina Chang. We need several parent volunteers after school on the 15th to help us transform a high school gym into a music venue! Please sign up here. Attention Publix Shoppers! Effective 10/1/2018, Publix will no longer accept the Publix Partners scan cards. In order for the band to continue to earn money from this program, customers must link our organization to their publix.com account. Simply log on to your Publix account (or create an account) and go to Settings. Scroll to the bottom and look for My Publix Partner. Search for and choose Centennial High School Band-Roswell, GA. Each time you check out at Publix, you must enter the phone number associated with your account on the credit card keypad. Our band program has earned almost $1800 to date, so please go online and sign up! Show your financial support of the CHS band program by becoming a Patron of the Band. Donations above and beyond our regular fees help our outstanding program continue to grow! Giving levels for every budget and all donations are tax deductible. Complete the Patron form found here and place in the band lockbox (along with cash or check) or pay via credit card on Charms. Login to Charms and select Patron of the Band in the online store. All patrons will be recognized in our band concert programs.
